Dr. Joshua New is a computer scientist joining Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 2009. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Tennessee in 2009, his M.S. in Computer Systems and Software Design and his B.S. with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics with a Physics minor from Jacksonville State University. Dr. New is a member of the Building Envelope & Urban Systems Research group and ORNL’s Urban Dynamics Institute. Dr. New currently serves at ORNL’s Building Technology Research Integration Center (BTRIC) as subprogram manager for software tools and models. He has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has led more than 45 competitively-awarded projects in the past 5 years involving websites, web services, databases, simulation development, visual analytics, supercomputing using the world’s #1 fastest supercomputer and artificial intelligence for big data mining. He is an active member of IEEE and ASHRAE.

Dr Mohsen Farid, PhD, has an established track record as an academic in data analytics, computational science, HCI and Information Theoretic approach to data, natural language, physical systems and measurements. Dr Farid served as a professor and department head at a number of US academic institutions with academic experience spanning over 25 years. He has also served at the UNESCO as an advisor to member countries. Dr Farid’s career involved working and consulting to industry. He worked at senior managerial as well as at consulting capacity for multinational corporations such as IBM, Microsoft, Prime and MIDOR to mention a few. Dr Farid received an “Honourable Mention” from the US Army for work on Data Mining of Breast Cancer Research.

Mohsen does research in Computing in Mathematics, Natural Science, Engineering and Medicine and Human-computer Interaction. Their most recent publication is 'Comparative study of the scaling behavior of the Rényi entropy for He-like atoms.'

Prof Alexander Balinsky received his PhD degree in Mathematical Physics from the Landau Institute of Theoretical Physics in 1990. He joined Cardiff University in 1997. He is a Professor in the Cardiff School of Mathematics and WIMCS (Wales Institute of Mathematical and Computational Sciences), Chair in Mathematical Physics. His current research interests lie in the areas of spectral theory, stability of matter, image processing and machine learning. He has participated in EU TMR network on Partial Differential Equations and Quantum Mechanics (1996-2001). He was PI on three years EPSRC Research Grant 2003-2006. He was founding member of Cardiff Communication Research Centre. He had several joint with Hewlett-Packard research projects. He also did consultancy work for Reuters, London on mathematical models for Internet Security.

Fionn Murtagh is Professor of Data Science and was Professor of Computer Science, including Department Head, in many universities. Fionn was Editor-in-Chief of the Computer Journal (British Computer Society) for more than 10 years, and is an Editorial Board member of many journals. With over 300 refereed articles and 30 books authored or edited, his fellowships and scholarly academies include: Fellow of: British Computer Society (FBCS), Institute of Mathematics and Its Applications (FIMA), International Association for Pattern Recognition (FIAPR), Royal Statistical Society (FRSS), Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), Senior Fellow, Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Elected Member: Royal Irish Academy (MRIA), Academia Europaea (MAE). Senior Member IEEE. Board member, EuADS, European Association of Data Science. Fionn is Chair of the international Board of the Council for Frontiers of Knowledge, based in Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.

Igor Kotenko is a Chief Scientist, Head of Laboratory of computer security problems of St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPIIRAS) and Head of the International Laboratory "Information security of cyber-physical systems" of St.Petersburg ITMO University. He is Prof. of computer science, Doctor of Technical Sciences, PhD. He graduated with honours from the St.Petersburg Academy of Space Engineering and the St.Petersburg Signal Academy. He is a noted scientist in research on theoretical and practical problems of information and telecommunication technologies, including artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems, data mining, big data, cyber security, communication network diagnostics, decision making support. He participated in a multitude of different research projects devoted to development of new computer technologies, and he was the Principal Investigator in more than 20 international research projects. For example, he was a project leader in the research projects from the US Air Force research department, the team leader in EU FP6 and EU FP7 Projects, and the Principal Investigator in several industrial projects for Hewlett-Packard (2006-2007), Intel (2004-2005), F-Secure (2009-2013), etc. The research performed under these contracts is concerned with innovative mathematical methods for intelligent information processing, including information storage, logical reasoning and visualization, complex system modeling and simulation, network intrusion detection, simulation of network attacks and defense, testing and security evaluation, security protocols, verification and validation of security policy, design of secured embedded systems, security information and event management, etc.

Dr. Xiao-Hua Yu received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, Irvine. Currently, she is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Dr. Yu has served in the organization and program committees of various international conferences, and she also serves on the editorial board of the international journal of artificial intelligence.

Dr. Yu’s research interests include computational intelligence, digital signal processing, adaptive control, and smart grid.

Dr. Zhang is currently Chair of the Department of Statistics. He received his Ph.D. in statistics from the University of Alberta. His research interests cover a wide range of topics which include general statistical methodology, empirical Bayes data analysis, bioinformatics, large scale multiple hypothesis testing and its application to genomics, statistical methods related to influenza virus genotyping and developing computationally intensive algorithms for analyzing biological and health survey data and big data analytics.

Fairouz Kamareddine has been a professor of Computer Science since 1998. She has been involved in a number of worldwide consultancy assignments, especially on education and research issues working for United Nations and the EU.She has held numerous invited positions at universities worldwide. She has published well over 150 published articles and a number of books. She has played leading roles in the development, administration and implementation of interdisciplinary, international, and academic collaborations and networks.

Her research interests includes Interface of Mathematics, Logic and Computer Science.

Dr. Javier Sarsa is a professor at the University of Zaragoza. He received his Master Degree in Electrical Engineering (with specialization in Informatics and Control) from the aforementioned university and completed his Doctoral Degree within an Education Program. His professional life has been always linked to learning using computers and educational technologies. He was designing and coordinating the e-learning initiative of the University de Zaragoza at the beginning of this century. He has been involved in multimedia design and development, learning platforms, learning statistics, learning quality, standards and guidelines like SCORM, digital video, etc. He has published more than 40 publications in journals, book chapters and conferences in the field of educational technology and participated in national (e.g. with Spanish Ministry of Education, Telefonica…) and European projects (European Commission’s Minerva, Cooperation…). He has been part of the editorial/review board of different journals (e.g. BJET), conferences (e.g. e-SOCIEY, 2017), invited editor or co-editor (e.g.. DeGruyter) and invited speaker at various meetings (e.g. ICINS, 2016).

He is the founder, faculty adviser and team leader of TAMIU DustyTRON and DustySWARM Robotics and intelligent systems teams, DustyMOTOR Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International Team/Chapter, and the TAMIU Society of Woman Engineers (SWE) student Chapter, also, he is the Faculty Advisor of TAMIU Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Chapter, Students Engineering Council. In addition, Dr. Tashtoush is the West Officer for the Corpus Christi Section of IEEE and the advisory and facilitator for the Youth Science Leader of Laredo non-profit organization.
